From the desk of Minister, Janis Thurmon
Music is an essential part of our church services. Every song (hymn, praise, worship) invites the Spirit of the Lord, creates a feeling of reverence, unify us as members, and provide a way to inspire us to offer praises to the Lord. Music has its own way of moving us to trust and believe in God in a greater way, bring us to repentance, inspires and motivates good works, build faith, and encourage us to comfort the weary and console the mourning.
The Eagle’s Nest Praise & Worship Music Ministry is under the direction of Janis Thurmon, Minister of Music. The Music Ministry consist of Percussionist, Rachel Jones and several choirs for both adults and children – 1) Eagle’s Nest Youth Connection, ages 7-18, 2) Eagle’s Nest Praise Team, 3) ENPW Combined Choir and the latest addition 4) The Women of Excellence Choir which consist of all W.O.E. members. The Bible teaches that “in all things get an understanding”. The Minister of Music not only teach the lyrics and give each section (Soprano, Alto, Tenor) their voice, but she also takes the time to make sure choir members receive an understanding of what is being presented through group discussions and/or activities. All choirs are always open to receive new members. So come on and let’s praise the Lord together. If you want to be blessed, come join the choir at “The Nest.”
A favorite scripture pertaining to music – Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” This means that the word of Christ is rich in substance, because his scriptures are Spirit-breathed, leaving no need of man lacking. The word of Christ is rich in its effects. It results in an abundance of goodness, from teaching to admonishing to singing to an overflow of thanksgiving. The word of Christ is rich with life because it offers and gives us eternity. So let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, not meagerly or momentarily. Don’t just sip or drink deep – taste and savor.
